Global Data indicates that by 2022 coal production in India, Indonesia or Australia will increase annually by 10.9%, 3.9% and 2.3% respectively, as coal plays an important role in the economy of these countries. In 2018, global coal production increased by over 40% (8 billion tones) compared to the 1990s, when it amounted to 4.7 billion tones. Undoubtedly, the increase in production is closely linked to the growing trade of this raw material, as last year maritime trade covered 1.2 billion tones and increased by 4.6% compared to 2017. Due to the fact that in many countries the demand for energy is constantly increasing (in 2018 the global demand increased by 4%) its production from coal also increases relatively - in 2018 the world electric energy supply increased by almost 260 TWh compared to 2017.In Poland, however, hard coal mining in 2018 is just over 60 million tons, and its volume imported is 19.7 million tons.
